Abstract

International journalists and local journalists usually have different perspectives on covering an event. What may be news for the local journalist may not be considered newsworthy enough for the international journalist to cover for their audience. This difference shows itself in the reporting process in the way topics are covered and sources are used. This project looks at how that difference manifests itself with an analysis of 50 news articles and three interviews. The results show that the differences in coverage is more nuanced, and depends on the topic.
