Abstract

Nurse burnout in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Emergency Department (ED) is a critical concern that can have a negative impact for both patient outcomes and nurse retention. The ICU and ED's high-stress environment, combined with long shifts, emotional strain, and staffing shortages, significantly contributes to physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion among nurses. This burnout can result in reduced job satisfaction, higher turnover rates, and compromised patient care.
