Abstract
Our team created this guide based on research with Webtoon readers, to identify the elements they saw as important or appealing. We then engaged in deep reading of Webtoon, along with a discussion of Webtoon elements and our classification scheme. However, this list is not exhaustive. Webtoon is a live platform with many creators and new titles emerging every day, so it is not possible to categorize every Webtoon title. The goal of this guide was to provide some examples and resources for the categories that readers have said are important to them. We recognize that media, artistic or textual, are products of their time, and this guide is no exception. Categories that seemed appropriate to us in the early 2020s may not be relevant or meaningful in the future. However, we believe that this guide could serve as a great starting point for conversations with your patrons and communities. Reading experiences and engagement have evolved with the development of digital technologies, and webtoons are currently one of the most accessible visual narratives that can appeal to diverse groups of people. This RA guide was created based on adult webtoon reader research. Future library research should understand the appeals of webtoon reading for younger readers and support their reading needs in a similar manner.--Conclusion.
