Abstract
Virtual reality (VR) is becoming more popular in the field of education. Consequently, studies have investigated the implantation of VR, and the design and development aspects of creating VR application. These studies have proven that VR is helpful to improve student's learning effectiveness and engagement. The purpose of this thesis is to explore if sexual health and body image education through VR is an optimal option over traditional instruction materials, such as PowerPoint slides, text documents, and video content. The application used immersive media together with text, models, animation, and user interface interactions to reinforce learning inside the virtual environment for sexual health and body image. This study included two groups of student's participants, with a group of students using the VR experience and the other group using slides and presentations. Before each of the learning sessions, a pretest collected students' baseline data. After the session, the students of each group would take a post test. The results indicated that students in the VR group manifested a higher learning growth compared to the students in the traditional group, particularly on the multimedia designs that involved more user-interactions.
