"Objectives of the study: The main objective of this study is to determine if under the prevailing production conditions there is a potential for Tanzanian farmers to increase their agricultural output, given the current agricultural policy. Specific objectives are: 1. To examine the current level of net farm income, output and marketable surplus. 2. To identify the limiting resources to current farm production activities. 3. To evaluate the net farm income and output levels for various production technologies given the input costs and expected returns. 4. To identify the technology alternative(s) and policy mix that could improve the smallholder farm income and output, and economically utilize the available farm resources. 5. To establish a planning model that can be used by the Tanzanian government to attain the desired level of technological change that can improve agricultural output and farm income."--Page 15.
