Abstract
Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart uses white bodies to connote abnormalcy in African culture at the start of colonialism. Written as a counter-hegemonic strategical novel in response to Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, the novel, then, positions African bodies as they should be in the discourse on colonialism: at the center. Positioned at the center, these African bodies tell a story of the use of time and space in African communities, Igbo spirituality, and the extremely organized civilization of Africa before colonialism.
