Abstract

"Silver and gold jewelry played an important role in the expansion of Roman / Late Antique metalworking techniques and in the decorative repertoire of Byzantine art. An interesting group of Byzantine jewelry -- two silver bracelets and a gold medallion -- formed an important addition to the collection when acquired by the Museum of Art and Archaeology in 1968. The three objects are said to have been found in a tomb in Hebron (Palestine)."--First paragraph.
