Abstract

"The contents of this report are a description of the procedures and results from portable circular saw investigation 2, phase III. As displayed in table 1.1 this project was a continuation of investigation 1, phases I and II. The objectives of each of the three phases are summarized tn table 1.1 along with the project report containing the results of each phase. The two investigations of the project were funded by PTI (Power Tool Institute). Plan B in the June 13, 1979 proposal "Portable Circular Saw Kickback Investigation No. 2" was approved by the PTI Portable Circular Saw Committee (John L. Bennett, Chairman) to conduct field simulation kickback tests to satisfy phase III objectives 1 and 2 as stated in table 1.1. The Portable Saw Committee added objectives 3 and 4 to phase III during their April 1980 project site visit to the University of Missouri-Columbia. Investigator Carson later added objective 5 to verify the apparent trends in the experimental data developed to satisfy objectives 3 and 4, and to individually investigate the influence of each of the saw design parameters listed in table 1.1 on saw kickback."--Introduction.
