"This paper contains the results of an analytical and experimental investigation of the effects of open junctions on the magnitude of pressure changes in closed conduits flowing full. Junctions of rectangular, square, and round plan were studied. Data concerning the performance of such junctions have been extremely meager in the past and designs have therefore been based on rather arbitrary procedures. The present paper furnishes data which afford the means for a rational hydraulic design of these structures."--Synopsis.
