Abstract

The thesis presents a theoretical analysis of the linear response of gas systems for a quasi-one-dimensional flow-through ducts, convergent and divergent. Traveling wave solutions are obtained from nondimensionalized, linearized equations of continuity, momentum and energy. These solutions are used to evaluate the response to the three input traveling-waves flowing into the one-section duct under consideration. Nine such response impedances completely describe the time response of a quasi-one-dimensional internal gas flow system. A computer program is developed for calculation of these impedance values, which could then be used to compare with experimental results.
