Abstract
This presentation offers an introduction to coordinate systems. Coordinates are used to identify locations on the earth's surface and are based on measurements of displacement from a given location. The number of significant digits required for a specific project when using Cartesian coordinates depends on two measures: a)Size of study area, b)Resolution (accuracy) of measurement.
