Abstract
"This is a study of politics in the town of Fulton, the county of Callaway, in the state of Missouri. It is a study which, from one standpoint, is limited in its scope and focus. No attempt is made to describe and to delineate in great detail the formal structure of government and politics in the community. It is not concerned with the efficiency and effectiveness of government. It offers no judgments as to the strengths and weaknesses, faults and virtues of governmental institutions, structures and processes. Rather, the author has sought to analyze relevant sociological, psychological, and anthropological data from the standpoint of the political scientist. The broad purpose is to describe and to understand significant aspects of politics, with particular attention being centered on political perspectives and values as they are expressed in the community of Fulton and the county of Callaway."--Introduction.
