Abstract
Seven science journalists who write and edit for magazines agreed that science journalism has problems diversifying its sources, and they agreed that it mostly came down to a matter of time and resources. But if science stories are to reach past the white men that dominate the stories, the journalists argued, then journalism will need to think more creatively. They suggested journalists reach past the most obvious sources when they can -- who are often white men because of the many systems that serve to elevate white men in science. If science journalists can't solve these institutional problems, they argued, they can at least be aware of them.
