Abstract
Cinnamon's job for rural crime-boss Big Poppa usually calls for her to break the law, not surrender to it. But when Big Poppa's son Bobby-Tommy badly beats a young man in a nearby town that's just what she's asked to do. She is assured that the prison sentence she serves in Bobby-Tommy's place will amount to only a few months, and that she will be well-paid for her time; payment which will allow Cinnamon and her girlfriend Lollipop to leave the criminal life behind them. However, when Cinnamon attempts to surrender, her temper gets the better of her and she batters a police officer, resulting in a three year stretch in prison. Upon release, Cinnamon is reunited with Lollipop and together they return to Big Poppa to collect her payment for services rendered. Big Poppa tries to persuade Cinnamon to come back to work for him, but her anger over her unexpectedly long jailtime has strained their relationship. She demands her pay and Big Poppa assures her he will have her money within 24 hours. While the two women wait at Lollipop's brother Bennie's place, Bobby-Tommy plots against them. Jealous of his father's admiration for Cinnamon, and in debt to a criminal named Gonzalez, Bobby-Tommy and the corrupt Sheriff Little conspire to get their hands on Cinnamon's upcoming payment. The next morning Cinnamon travels to Big Poppa's house and gets her money. While there Big Poppa makes one last plea to get Cinnamon to work for him, but the rift between them is too deep. They say their farewells and Cinnamon leaves. Upon her return she finds Bennie's place in flames. A cell phone call from Bobby-Tommy informs her that Lollipop has been kidnapped and will be returned in exchange for the money. During the exchange Cinnamon is double-crossed and beaten unconscious. Having expected such a course of action, Cinnamon has hidden the money. During a brutal interrogation Cinnamon escapes from Bobby-Tommy and sets out to rescue Lollipop. Along the way Cinnamon gathers allies in her quest- other women who have been abused by Little and Bobby-Tommy. As Cinnamon closes in, Bobby-Tommy's conflict with his father comes to a head and the resentful son kills Big Poppa in a fit of rage. Seeing that his employer is coming unglued, Little sets a trap to dispose of both Bobby-Tommy and Cinnamon. Cinnamon kills Bobby-Tommy and escapes Little's trap but is left with no idea where to find Lollipop. In a last ditch attempt to get Lollipop back, Cinnamon, along with her newfound allies, sets about dismantling the criminal enterprise Little and company have created. They burn meth labs, kill henchmen, and generally cause chaos in the tiny town. In an effort to bring this rampage to an end, Little agrees to another exchange. Cinnamon is once again doublecrossed. She has learned from her past mistakes however, and has a back-up plan which leaves Little dead. Cinnamon is badly wounded, but reunited with Lollipop at last, and the two of them drive away, leaving their old lives behind.
