Abstract
"Ten years of distinct achievement have closed. The decade upon which we have just entered offers a field for even greater effort and the prospect of even larger achievement. The story told on the following pages is by no means a complete recital of all or even the major part of that which has been accomplished by the farmers of Missouri through their county farm bureaus in developing the State’s farming interests by cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the College of Agriculture. The county sketches touch just a few of the “high points” in the series of accomplishments which each organized county has contributed to the state-wide and nation-wide betterment of agriculture. Typical examples of cooperative extension work, rather than summaries of results, are presented. The pictures of the county floats which appeared in the parade at the Farm Bureau Decennial celebration at Cape Girardeau, Missouri, August 10, 1922, serve as the feature around which this story of ten years of cooperative extension work in agriculture and home economics is centered. In a few cases the Decennial floats record accomplishments of the farm bureau entirely independent of College cooperation. Call it “farm bureau work”, if you will, or call it College work; it matters not. It is the story of ten years of united effort on the part of the farm bureau, the College and the U. S. Department of Agriculture, told in terms of agricultural progress. For the convenience of the reader, the counties are arranged in alphabetical order. The counties without photographs are those which were not represented in the Decennial parade."--Page 8.
