Abstract
"The general objective of this study is to find optimal levels of phosphate for forage production under varying conditions. More specifically, the objectives are: 1) To estimate a production function relating the effects of topdress phosphate on alfalfa yields. 2) To find the profit maximizing levels of topdress phosphate under varying P2O5 and alfalfa prices. 3) To determine the effect of a crop failure on the profit maximizing levels of phosphate, and 4) To determine the effect of available phosphate in the soil on the estimated yields and associated profit maximizing levels of P2O5."--Page 4.
