Abstract
Undeclared students require substantial institutional guidance to navigate their major and career exploration journey. At one mid-western university, a major and career exploration course has been offered to first-year undeclared students since 2020. This qualitative study used semistructured interview questions to examine the student's journey through this course. The study aimed to understand the experiences from the student's perspective to determine which course content most impacted their major and career exploration, and what areas needed improvement. The study found that the course has a positive impact on the student's journey by providing access to information about majors and careers through specific lessons and assignments, as well as offering insight into potential improvements. Participants found peer-to-peer learning to be very influential and recommended incorporating peer learning into the course. These findings will inform changes to the course content, ensuring the continued goal of meeting the needs of students throughout their educational journey, and provide recommendations to researchers and practitioners in this field.
