Abstract

"Lagoons are an important part of many Missouri livestock waste management systems. In addition to providing relatively low-cost storage for wastes, lagoons biologically degrade and liquify manure for pumping and distribution onto pasture or crop land. Lagoons definitely should not be considered final disposal impoundments for animal wastes."--First page.
