Abstract
"Since 1945 the movement toward increased use of power and machinery on farms has been something of a revolution. Mechanization of feed storage and feed processing activities are a part of this revolution on many Missouri livestock farms. Manufacturers are daily adding to the list of available equipment alternatives and selling this equipment on the basis of saving labor and increasing net efficiency. Some research has been done by the United States Department of Agriculture and Land-Grant Colleges aimed at development or evaluation of equipment, or at cost analysis of specific systems, nevertheless, important gaps exist regarding the economic evaluation of alternative equipment and systems. The object of this study was to examine some of the economic factors affecting choice of feed storage, feeding processing, and feeding systems on farms in Northeast Missouri."--Chapter 1.
