Abstract

Many people strive to get the perfect, healthy-looking tan. But there is no such thing as a healthy tan. A tan is the skin's response to injury from ultraviolet (UV) light. Cancer of the skin is the most common of all cancers; nearly 95 percent of all skin cancers in the United States are caused by exposure to UV radiation.
