Abstract
"The purpose of this study is to explain certain aspects of the moral vision in The Canterbury Tales. Such an explanation will serve two important functions: 1) it will bring into sharper focus the divergent moral elements of the work; 2) it will suggest a broad, reasonable basis for an understanding of the significant part those moral elements play in The Canterbury Tales. But a study of the moral vision in a work of art in which the greatest moments are or an ostensibly secular nature requires some justification."--Introduction.
