Text from introduction: This thesis is a discussion, from the standpoint of our present knowledge of the fundamental principles of animal nutrition, of the possibility of raising calves on "milk substitutes". The experimental work, which consists of a trial of powdered skimmilk for calf raising, is to be the beginning of a systematic study of the question of raising the calves on those farms where whole milk is sold.
