Abstract
TRUGRAPH is a graphics pre- and post- processor designed to interface effectively with current and future versions of TRUOPT. TRUOPT is computer program which produces the optimal design for a given three-dimensional space truss subjected to multiple independent static loading conditions, behavioral constraints on element stresses and nodal displacements, and bounds on optimization design variables. Care has been taken to maintain functional modularity of TRUGRAPH subroutines in order to maximize the modification capability of the system and to keep graphics commands as independent of the graphics language used as is practical. In this thesis, attention is given to the methods used in performing the graphics processing and to providing a source of information for possible future modifications of the system. Important algorithms, such as 2- and 3-dimensional graphics transformations, clipping, and the graphic representations of structural data are given more significance than derivations of basic graphics routines.
