Abstract
School disciplinary policies have struggled to accommodate the changing dynamics and needs in post Covid single sex institutions. The need for this research is significant, as discipline issues have increased in post Covid education, and males are uniquely dealing with behavioral and mental health related issues in the post Covid environment. To this date, there is a significant gap in research to address this specific and critical need. This dissertation employs a qualitative case study research approach to investigating post Covid disciplinary policies and behavior in an all-male high school academic environment in a midwest urban area. The literature explores and links the current behavioral needs in all-male educational institutions to the need for further research regarding discipline policies and practices in an all-male academic setting in 2023.. This study employed qualitative data collection by conducting surveys of teachers, an interview of an administrator in charge of discipline, and a focus group of administrator, teacher, and counselor that work closely with discipline policy and practices. Through the qualitative analysis and findings from the data collected, this study aims to contribute to effective disciplinary policies and practices in order to fully address the unique needs of adolescent males in a single sex educational environment. This will in turn enhance and better the overall learning environment in post Covid all-male educational environments.
