Abstract
"With the seventh consecutive season in the field in Israel in 1970, and the third at Tel Anafa, the University of Missouri Excavations have become an important and respected part of the expanding archaeological scene in that country. At the same time these excavations have become increasingly essential to the programs of the University's Museum of Art and Archaeology and its Department of Art History and Archaeology. Not least, Tel Anafa's contribution to our knowledge of the Hellenistic period in the Near East grows with each season out of all proportion to the size of the site."--First paragraph.
