Abstract
This paper explores the transformative role of storytelling in promoting healing, resilience, and community among veterans transitioning from military to civilian life. Drawing on research from the fields of psychology, trauma recovery, personality, holistic medicine, and primarily the humanities, the Veteran R.E.A.D.S. Program (VRP) is examined. The VRP harnesses storytelling to build resilience, enhance education, drive advocacy, foster dialogue, and promote service among veterans. By addressing the challenges of reintegration, the program not only supports individual well-being and education but also strengthens community vitality, belonging, contribution, and leadership, illustrating the profound impact of narrative approaches in navigating the complexities of post-service life.
