Abstract
On the shores of Salamis, Euripides used for his study a cave which overlooked the sea, and in this secluded place wrote most of his tragedies. Thus leading a life of seclusion, Euripides devoted much time to studying nature, and the observations of his quiet home are shown in his plays. Not alone are references to nature confined to the choral roles but are found through the entire play. Most of Euripides' figures are taken from the sea and from the life of the seafarers.
