Abstract
It is the purpose of this paper to give an account of the origin of the constitution of Missouri of 1820 by tracing its history in the constitutional convention and by comparing its several sections with similar provisions of the then existing state constitutions. Sections of the constitution will be taken up in regular order, each section being given as finally adopted, immediately following it will be found an account of its progress through the constitutional convention and a reference to the existing state constitutions which probably influenced its adoption.
