Abstract

"Objectives of the study: The study attempts to analyze the possibilities of utilizing wastewater for agricultural production, particularly involving the use of irrigation. Various economic questions concerning the economics of residuals will also be considered. Specific objectives, then, can be outlined as follows: 1. to describe the pending need for wastewater reuse; 2. to discuss the related literature and determine the value of sewage effluent for agricultural use; 3. to relate past and present experience with the use of municipal effluent for agricultural purposes through the use of examples; and 4. to economically analyze two comparable systems of advanced wastewater treatment--namely, in-plant carbon absorption advanced treatment versus the land-based 'spray irrigation' system."--Page 2.
