Abstract

Feed energy measures are used to estimate the energy required for a specific animal at various performance levels and to evaluate feeds to supply this energy. The most frequently used measures of feed energy are total digestible nutrients (TON) ; digestible energy (DE) ; metabolizable energy (ME) ; and net energy (NE).
