Abstract
This research contributes to the discourse on the crucial role played by admissions and enrollment managers in fostering student success. The study dives into the lived experiences of students engaged in an admissions-led college access program funded by the Office of Admissions. Notably, the program's overarching objective was to scale city- wide impact by elevating the college-going rate among Cincinnati Public High School System students. In enrollment management, historical data often informs decisions, guiding recruitment and admissions strategies. However, there is a gap in considering the firsthand experiences of students navigating our systems and programs. This research seeks to address this gap through a case study approach by exploring students' experiences within the program. The primary aim is to shift the paradigm from creating programs through a deficit lens to one that leverages students' strengths, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of our educational initiatives.
