Abstract
Glycolipids play a key role in cellular recognition and cancer progression. Therefore, we have been interested in the detecting glycolipids because detecting lipids can be interesting therapeutic strategy for various diseases. We have chosen florescence sensing as a detecting method. Fluorescence has become an often employed renowned method of detection. in medical research community as well as many other scientific fields.1 Fluorescence sensing is an important method for detection, monitoring and sensing biologically important molecules. Given the hydrophobicity of lipids, we have been developing a guest-host supramolecular system to detect glycolipids. It is a multi-part sensor system consisting of hydrophobic macrocycle cucurbit [8] uril, phenyl-pyridinium receptors and various indicators to selectively recognize and detect glycolipid type compounds. The current work focuses on binding and fluorescence study of lipid to receptors in low concentration in order to achieve better binding towards desired lipids. 1H-NMR, UV-Vis and fluorescence titration was used to perform this study. The guest-host components turned out to selfassemble into 1:1, 2:1 and 1:1:1 complex.
