Abstract

Hydrogen has long been an important industrial substance and several processes for its economical production have been used. One of the older processes utilizes the interaction of steam and iron used is ordinarily spathic iron ore, roasted to convert the iron carbonate to iron oxide.[superscript 1] It is charged into a reactor, reduced with water gas, and then oxidized with steam. The process is generally considered to be a result of the following chemical reaction.
