Abstract

[ACCESS RESTRICTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI SYSTEM AT REQUEST OF AUTHOR.] New advancements in cancer treatment methods are increasing the survival rate of cancer patients. Unfortunately, these life-saving treatments, such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy, have permanent impacts on ovarian function leading to infertility, osteoporosis and obesity. Autologous transplantation of previously cryopreserved ovarian tissues would serve as a potential therapeutic approach in human reproduction and general medicine in terms of restoring steroid hormone function, fertility, body composition, and bone integrity.
