Faust by Charles Gounod tells the story of a man who sold his soul to the Devil to recapture the innocence of youth. The NY City Opera National Company performed the piece in Jesse Auditorium on November 5, 1985 under the direction of Beverly Sills. A prologue to the performance was given on November 3 in Union Ballroom.
