Abstract
Brain Catalogue is a creative dissertation that combines comics and nonfiction. Specifically, it deals with the type of nonfiction often called the essay. It is an experimental autobiography that is broken down across four chapters, each dealing with a particular subject as well as the concept of representation more broadly. How can one represent his/herself? Someone else? Reality? History? Brain Catalogue approaches writing about the world as not an attempt to reproduce the world, but an attempt to reproduce what it is like to think about the world. And because I'm the one doing the thinking, it is in that way autobiographical (a catalogue of my brain, so to speak). The images used herein are either created by myself, in the public domain, or (in the very few cases of images not in the public domain) are used in a critical context that constitutes fair use.
