Abstract
In Missouri, corn and soybean oil meal are the principal feed ingredients used in formulating swine rations. Rations using corn and soybean meal remain the standard to which other ingredients are compared. Considerable use is made of other ingredients, however, depending on cost. Milo and wheat have been substituted for corn, primarily for energy. Tankage, meat and bone meal and fish meal have been used in place of soybean meal for protein. Occasionally, producers have an opportunity to use nontypical sources of feedstuffs as a substitute for the standards. These sources become more attractive when costs of traditional sources are considerably higher than normal.
