Abstract
"On-the-farm diagnosis of poultry diseases can often lead to faulty conclusions and should be discouraged. When a person suspects a contagious disease is present in his flock, he should immediately arrange to take specimens to a local veterinarian or poultry disease diagnostic laboratory. Several state-operated and commercial laboratories are available to Missouri poultrymen. The services of these laboratories are generally without charge. They are equipped to identify disease problems and to make recommendations for control.
