Abstract

Description: The Hellbender HPC cluster is a shared cluster located in Columbia Missouri accessible to researchers and their collaborators at the University of Missouri and across the University of Missouri System. Hellbender currently runs Alma 8.9 and uses SLURM to schedule jobs. It currently consists of 112 compute nodes (AMD Epyc Milan) each with 512Gb of DDR4 RAM and a single 1.6Tb NVME Drive for local scratch along with 128 cores for a total of 14,336 compute cores across the system. There are 17 GPU nodes with 4 Nvidia A100 80GB GPU’s for a total of 68 GPU cards. The network is based on an NDR backbone which provides up to 400 gibabits of data point to point on the network. Each node is attached to the backbone with a HDR Infiniband connection capable of providing 200 gigabits of data throughput per second to each node. The system is connected to over 8 petabytes of high performance parallel storage provided by VAST and Pixstor appliances that comprise our “Research Data Ecosystem” storage environment which allows for instrument and other research computing devices outside of the traditional HPC cluster to share a unified storage that is accessible via NFS or SMB. We ask that when you cite any of the RSS clusters in a publication to send an email to itrss-support@umsystem.edu as well as share a copy of the publication with us. To cite the use of this cluster in a publication please use: The computation for this work was performed on the high performance computing infrastructure provided by Research Support Services at the University of Missouri, Columbia MO.
