  • High surface area carbon based batteries [abstract]

Wopata, Matthew; Suppes, Galen J. (University of Missouri--Columbia. Office of Undergraduate Research, 2007)
Lead acid batteries have some flaws that prevent them from being used in applications such as electric vehicles. Their low energy densities, problems with corrosion, sulfation, and inability to withstand deep discharges ...
  • Comparing impingement boiling vs. pool boiling to improve technological insight into liquid cooling in electronics [abstract]

Witte, Matt; Bryan, James E., 1964-; Feng, Xin, 1978-; Jackson, Jenny E. (University of Missouri--Columbia. Office of Undergraduate Research, 2007)
With the field of technology advancing at a rapid pace so must the technology behind cooling these electronic parts. My research compares two completely different of cooling operations and compares many different fluids ...
  • A human relevant rat model of breast cancer [abstract]

Willbrand, Dana M.; Sauter, Edward R.; Ruhlen, Rachel L. (University of Missouri--Columbia. Office of Undergraduate Research, 2007)
Estrogen receptor (ER) status is an important prognostic factor of human breast cancer. ER+ breast cancers, which make up 95% of human breast cancers, have a good prognosis because the growth of these tumors is dependent ...
  • Agarose entrapped gold nanoparticles for the crosslinking of collagen: A comparison study [abstract]

White, Amanda Kay; Costello, Corey; Grant, Sheila Ann (University of Missouri--Columbia. Office of Undergraduate Research, 2007)
As one of the most common proteins found in the human body, collagen is generally regarded as biocompatible and has well-defined properties that make it ideal for biomedical applications. However, for purified forms of ...
  • Design and testing of heat pipes [abstract]

Vincent, Christopher John, 1976-; Ma, Hongbin, 1962- (University of Missouri--Columbia. Office of Undergraduate Research, 2007)
The project focuses on the design and testing of straight heat pipes. During the duration of the project three different styles of heat pipe manufacturing were developed. The first style consisted of flattening the pipe ...
  • Effects of feeding a no-roughage diet to feedlot cattle compared to traditional corn-soybean meal-hay diet [abstract]

Versemann, Brent; Kerley, Monty Stephen, 1960- (University of Missouri--Columbia. Office of Undergraduate Research, 2007)
The present experiment utilized a group of 16 Angus-based steers. The steers in group two (control group) were fed a traditional corn-soybean meal diet with free choice fescue hay available. Calves on group one (test group) ...
  • Modeling a gas puff z-pinch as an RL circuit load [abstract]

VanGordon, James A., 1984-; Kovaleski, Scott D. (University of Missouri--Columbia. Office of Undergraduate Research, 2007)
A Z-pinch is process through which current is passed though a column of plasma and the resultant JxB force acts to "pinch" the plasma to smaller and smaller radii. More specifically, a gas puff Z-pinch is a Z-pinch that ...
  • Thermal performance maps for forced air cooling of ruggedized electronics enclosures [abstract]
