Web-Based Tools for Environmental Planning

Abstract

This presentation describes the goals of CARES (Center for Agricultural, Resource and Environmental Systems ) to promote understanding of resource issues using information technologies, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, Environmental Modeling, and Web Technologies. It describes in detail the CARES "Map Room" and Missouri Interactive Maps resource, which allows users to "create customized interactive maps from a wide range of economic, demographic, physical and cultural data." The presentation also discusses the Animal Feeding Operation Site Reports (AFOsite)and Business Environmental Risk Management (BERM) tools.
