Abstract
Poster for the 2013 America's Music Festival featuring performances by The Next Step, the MU Jazz Band, John White and The Nine Mile Band with caller Jim Thaxter and emcee Howard Marshall, the UM Theatre Department, Turquoise Jeep, Jessie Adolph, Brenton Smith, Brandon Adams, Landalin, Two4One, Stacey Martin and DJ Scales. The festival also included lectures on Aaron Copland, Ella Fitzgerald, Richard Rodgers and a Summary and Conclusions Panel. Additionally, film screenings of "Martin Scorsese Presents the Blues," "Say Amen, Somebody," Ken Burns's "Jazz," "The International Sweethearts of Rhythm," "High Lonesome: The Story of Bluegrass Music," "The History of Rock and Roll," "Broadway: The American Musical," "Latin Music USA," and "From Mambo to Hip Hop: A South Bronx Tale" were run by MU professors Dr. Maya Gibson, Dr. Michael Budds, and Dr. Stephanie Shonekan.
