dc.description.abstractUniversity of Missouri Extension has developed and is implementing a comprehensive statewide renewable energy production and conservation education program. The research based educational program is being lead by a statewide energy team consisting of regional and campus extension faculty. The long term goal is develop, implement and evaluate a nationally recognized educational program that will improve the energy independence and economic viability of Missouri. The program involves faculty from the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, College of Engineering, College of Human Environmental Sciences & MU Extension. Energy education has been will be incorporated into MU Extension's five major area - agriculture and natural resources, human environmental sciences, community development, business and industry development, 4-H & youth. For each of the program thrusts - curriculum, guide sheets, educational programs and information on a website is being developed and evaluated. Extension faculty will have access to a toolbox of materials that can be used to deliver the various programs. The materials will be research-based and give clientele unbiased information with which to make energy decisions related to their homes, businesses and communities. Several extension faculty are involved in the national eXtension Communities of Practice. The eXtension network is national webased network of the best educational resources accessable 24/7/365.eng
