Is a history of superficial thrombophlebitis a contraindication to the use of estrogen replacement therapy (ERT)?
Metadata[+] Show full item record
No clinical trials have shown that a history of superficial thrombophlebitis increases the risk of venous thrombosis in women taking ERT. Clinicians should weigh the benefits and risks of hormone therapy for each menopausal woman individually, and should not consider superficial thrombi alone as an absolute contraindication. (SOR: C, based on consensus guidelines.)
