Quantification of risk factors for occupational Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Abstract
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a common type of neuropathy in which the median nerve is compressed within the carpal tunnel at the wrist. The incidence of carpal tunnel syndrome in the work place is called occupational carpal tunnel syndrome (OCTS). OCTS is a
multifactorial cumulative trauma disorder. This disorder is linked to occupational factors, clinical factors, and personal factors. Our objective is in quantifying factors and predicting the incidence of OCTS. Statistical procedures, back propagation method of neural network, and fuzzy aggregate operator have been adapted to quantify
factors and predict the incidence of OCTS.
