Acamprosate reduces the risk of return to any drinking and increases abstinence duration. Naltrexone reduces the risk of return to heavy drinking and decreases the percentage of drinking days. Topiramate reduces the percentage of elevated alcohol intake days and increases the number of abstinence days. Disulfiram is not effective in reducing 12-month abstinence.
