Abstract: A differential equation may be formed from all algebraic equations by the elimination of the arbitrary constants between the latter and its derivatives. The number of derivations being equal to the number of arbitrary constants in the algebraic equation. Thus we see that the order of a differential equation is the same as the number of arbitrary constants in its primitive. In this brief paper we propose to teach differential equations of the first order alone.
