Abstract
The book grows out of a professional interest in Fox's talents as a parliamentary speaker. The scope, therefore, is that of a biography, with Fox's attainments as a speaker coming to the foreground at frequent intervals. From the viewpoint of rhetorical theory and practice, though much of the terminology of classical or even contemporary rhetoric is not used.
