When is it appropriate to remove an inferior vena cava filter?
Metadata[+] Show full item record
There is limited evidence to guide timing of the removal of inferior vena cava (IVC) filters. Some evidence suggests that retrieval is more difficult after 3 months of implantation. Expert opinion recommends that physicians should make the decision to remove an IVC filter based on when risk of pulmonary embolism (PE) is acceptably low on a case-by-case basis.
