There is some controversy among scholars with regard to the identification of ancient Mahishmati with a town today. Some say ancient Mahishmati is today's Maheshvara. Others argue that today's Omkara Mandhata is ancient Mahishmati. We subscribe to the later view and have discussed it in previous publications. A saint at Maheshvara presented a copy of a rare ancient work entitled Mahishmati Mahatmya to Shri Komal Goswami of Indore, a true devotee of OM. A collection of photographs obtained from both Komal Goswami and Father Geo George Kannanayil of this holy city are presented in our previous publication Mahati Mahishmata Mahān Maheshvara. This rare transcribed Sanskrit text was done in long hand and now in digitized form by Om Shanti Mandiram to preserve for future generations. The original Sanskrit is followed by the Hindi translation. Sorry at this time we have no English translation, a task for a future scholar. We are quite rich in this valued wealth of knowledge and present it to the world to view and honor.eng
